Update from JMSU

JMSU has had increased engagement with students during this period, ensuring they have the opportunity to raise any concerns and receive the practical support they may need.

The main concern for students has been around accommodation and whether providers will continue to charge after students returned home. JMSU officers have been working closely with LJMU, Liverpool Guild, Hope SU and local MPs to push for a positive resolution.

JMSU has been engaging with LJMU on the university's No Detriment Framework. JMSU is holding video calls to give students an opportunity to offer feedback on the framework to LJMU staff. This follows a recent online question and answer session with the Teaching and Learning Academy which students found extremely useful.

With more than 500 members, the JMSU Hangout on Facebook is proving to be a popular place for students to discuss how they are coping with the lockdown and share tips and advice. The Academic Advice service, meanwhile, has been receiving more queries than usual on a range of non-academic issues. JMSU has allocated more resources to this service to cope with the demand.

Finally, JMSU has continued to host and plan awards ceremonies in different ways. The winners of the JMSU Sports and Societies Awards have been crowned virtually, while the Amazing Teaching Awards ceremony will take place remotely on Tuesday 2 June, 4pm-5pm.
